Planning in the publication of hunting literature

In the January issue of the magazine "Moscow" E. Yevtushenko published a large poem about a wood grouse. In it, the poet vividly, extremely emotionally depicted the current, the forest singer of the capercaillie.

Here everything is true — and this is a cosmic "overworld", and a very subtle likening of a capercaillie "tapping" to the "sound of a nail on a snuffbox".

But that capercaillie is taken, killed, the charm dissipates, an "outside observer" awakens in the author, and, unfortunately, the poem is sharply broken by the final, sluggish, little expressive stanza.

However, Yevtushenko's poem, despite the failure in the "ending", can still be considered a success, which cannot be said about the poem "Hunting for a Hare" by A. Voznesensky. The poem is, from the hunter's point of view, nonsense.

We do not enter into a detailed literary analysis of Voznesensky's poems, but only note that the hunting theme, unfamiliar and alien to the poet, turned out to be only an occasion for a broad and in—depth generalization of the thought "do not kill!" - in symbolic terms. In this sense, the "Hare Hunt" somehow echoes Soloukhin's "Winter Day".

We are for realistic hunting poems that palpably convey the light and smells of the forest and fields, the joy of wandering through the vast expanses of the Motherland, the happiness and strength of Mother Earth.

Hunting attracts the attention of writers and poets to an immeasurably greater extent than any, even the most famous sport, and this is one of the proofs of its charm and mass character.

As noted above, over the past year or two, undeniable successes have been achieved in hunting literature, but these successes are still only minimal. Artistic hunting literature is experiencing a state of some stagnation, far from using urgent modern topics and actually passing by such a shameful phenomenon as poaching. It does not sufficiently embody in any form and in any "perspective" the type of a new hunter, owner and guardian of natural resources!

We don't write many monographs about animals — and how many "wonderful finds" there can be. The whole variety of genres is also far from being used in literature, for example, there are no books like "Little Savages" and "Rolf in the Woods" by Seton Thompson, there are no such fascinating novels as "Hunting Leisure" by Mayne Reed, such in-depth psychological novels as "Bear" by Faulkner, socially significant as "The Hunter"Aldridge.

And how many such wonderful samples are there in our native hunting classics. It is with sadness that I have to admit that this classic, so rich and diverse, still remains hidden for hunter readers: this is where we are really "lazy and inquisitive"!

I would also like to wish centralization and planning in the publication of hunting literature: now this is happening in the order of "fragmentation" and randomness. But this is a special question.

The most important thing is to encourage writers—hunters to create such works that would live after us, as praise and glory to hunting.
